Image Slideshow update
March 19, 2008 · Filed Under ImageSlideshow
I had hoped to get an update to Image Slideshow out this week but thats not going to happen. Real life has conspired to get in the way, hopefully will get the update out next week.
The update will include the following features
- Slideshow will act as a link, i.e. click on the pictures and browser will navigate to specified URL.
- Add the ability to specify whether the Slideshow sequence is random or in aanother specified sort order.
- Option for images to be resized to a specified size.
- Also want to clean up the PHP and Javascript code.

Thanks for this module, I tried using it, it works.
One thing, I tried also was to copy this module so that it can have more slideshows on the site but seems not working. I observed it works only one slideshow. Any way we can copy this module within the site that will work, thanks .
I mean, my question is, Can we copy this module within the site?
Just tried out the module and it is excellent, it’s hard to believe how quickly you have put this together. The features you mention will all be great additions.
Do you know if there is a way to place two instances of the module on the same page? In the module manager, I made a copy of the module and tried to place it twice on the same page, trying it both with identical and with different delay times.
The module occurring first on the page actually showed the images, but the dissolves were jittery and the image would disappear, apparently randomly.
The module appearing second on the page did nothing.
My guess is that the two instances of the Javascript are conflicting.
Any advice on other methods to try?
I am looking forward to your tutorial on module development. Keep up the good work, and thank you.

Now that you mention it I’ve never tried to put more than one on a page! Note to self… do more testing! I’ll take a look at it, you’re most likely correct in your statement about the Javascript conflicting. I’ll resolve this and include with the forthcoming update.
Thanks for the response. I think it would open a lot of design possibilities with the ability to feature several slideshows on a page, especially combined with the features you are currently working on.
If you’re still looking for ideas, this idea just came to me if you are looking for a challenge
Is it possible for the URL to change depending on which photo is currently being displayed? You could use it in this fashion as a sort of menu, sending the user to the page related to the image.
Thanks!
I made several attempts to install this module using Joomla 1.5.1 (Extensions > Install/Uninstall > mod_imageslideshow.zip) but keep getting the error message: “Warning! - Failed to move file, Unable to find install package”.
Please, what could possibly be the problem?
Chris.
I’m new to the world of Joomla but have never seen this error. The error seems to inicate that Joomla cannot find the file, I presume you have downloaded the zip to your computer and when you go to install you have specified the full path to the file??
very good module, works fine, will wait for the update which will enable links, thank you very much
Also if possible will be nice in the update if there will be an option which will be shown image title or describtion, even better with the optional link to the articles (which we can chose categories etc), hope I didn’t ask for much
again thans alot for the great module…
Hi there,
Great work but may I suggest you add an option to input Module Class Suffix as well?? Would really be nice to have…
Also, if you want to test IE6, IE7, IE8, FF, XP, Vista, Linux of different kinds, even Win98 - try a virtual PC as WMware or Microsofts Virtual PC. Does the trick for me when developing websites…
